World Kidney Day 2025
The 2025 edition took place in Libreville, Akanda and Owendo, with scientific meetings and free screening. It also saw the launch of the “I stop to drink water” challenge.
Scientific meetings (day before)

The scientific meetings were opened by Dr Élise Eyang Obame, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health. Topics covered:
- acute kidney injury in emergency departments;
- the profile of haemodialysis patients;
- multidrug-resistant bacteria in dialysis;
- the state of dialysis in Gabon.
Screening day
Free screening was organised in Nzeng-Ayong, Akanda and Owendo. On 13 March, the mayor of Owendo visited the site.
